During his time in the south of Wales, Larry will be studying a MA Communication, Media Practice & P.R.

Master’s degrees in the United Kingdom take only one year to complete, and the total costs work out far cheaper than studying in America. Athletic and academic SCHOLARSHIPS are also available.

Starting in September 2019, Alex will be studying a Sport’s Management & Soccer Coaching Master’s degree whilst playing for the SMI Academy.

The SMI Academy offers a professional playing experience to it’s players through full-time training and weekly matches vs. clubs all over Italy. The exposure given by the SMI Academy has seen many of it’s players go on to sign professional contracts or find and semi-professional opportunities with Italian soccer clubs.

Dan has previously been awarded Northland College’s Male Athlete of the Year and is a former 1st-Team Upper Midwest Athletic All-Conference selection. Playing as a shooting/point guard, Dan be hoping to help Portsmouth challenge in the South East Conference of BUCS competition (the U.K’s NCAA equivalent).

University rules in the United Kingdom allow student-athletes to keep playing college basketball even after using up all their NCAA eligibility. Dan has chosen to study at the University of Portsmouth as it allows him to keep playing, whilst studying for a Master’s degree in Sports Management MSc.

Lauren has chosen to study MSc Research Methods in Psychology master’s degree at Swansea

In addition to playing for the Swansea University women’s soccer team, Lauren will also play for Swansea City Ladies FC. ‘The Swans’ complete in the Welsh Women’s Premier League and the FAW Women’s Cup, of which they are the current holders.

We asked Lauren what she was looked forward to doing most whilst at Swansea and she answered “I am excited to study/research Psychology and also the opportunity to play soccer again. I am very excited to live in a new country, meet new people, and explore a new environment.”

Holly had previously graduated from the University of Maryland and had been working as a personal trainer. She had planned to eventually pursue higher education related to fitness, but when she heard about UNILINK Sports and the opportunity to play a high level of rugby, she jumped at the chance!

We asked Holly what excited her most about a) coming to the United Kingdom and b) the University of Essex. Her answer’s are as follows;

“I am definitely excited to live somewhere different, but I am most excited to live somewhere where playing rugby is more normal. Rugby (especially women’s rugby) is still considered relatively obscure in the US, which is limiting to the resources, coaching, and opportunities we have available to us. I can’t wait to see what rugby looks like over in the U.K!

I am drawn to University of Essex equally for its MSc Sport and Exercise Science program, as well as its highly competitive rugby program. I am excited to gain a stronger background in exercise science and to apply this knowledge specifically to my research. And, I am twice as excited to be able to do this while playing the sport I love, alongside girls who have played much longer than I have.

The opportunity to study here is ideal for me, and I am happy to take advantage of it!”
